Ihsan Faidhi
Biography
- Born in Basra, Iraq in 1953, Ihsan Faidhi joined the Architectural Department of the College of Engineering at the University of Baghdad and graduated in 1977. He later worked as a designer in
- I.B.T.O Company on the development of the Semus Palace in Munich, Western Germany.
- Faidhi afterwards worked as a Resident Architect of the National Iraqi Insurance Company Complex Project, which is a vast multi-story facility that includes offices and parking lots. His work on this project carried-on from 1978 until 1981.
- Between 1980 and 1985, Faidhi became an Associate at M. Al-Ali & Partners where he worked as a consultant and planner engineer in Baghdad. During that time Faidhi co-created numerous outstanding designs and developed many projects some of which are Basra Int. Airport Project with Scott Brown & Associates- England, Basra Medical College with Y.R.M. International- England,and the Redevelopment of Kadhimiya &Bab Al-Sheikh project in Association with A.P.P- England.
- Reaching a prime stage of professional experience; Faidhi founded Arrasheed House of Architecture in Baghdad in 1985 and worked efficiently over the years to expand the business, opening the headquarters in Amman, Jordan and working on numerous projects in Iraq, Jordan and Dubai.
Ihsan Fethi
- Biography
- Ihsan Fethi studied Architecture and Urban Planning in the United Kingdom in 1960 obtaining a PhD in Architecture in 1977 after years of study and research. He later became a Professor of Architecture, Urban Planner, and Heritage Conservation Expert and accordingly held many distinguished academic positions including Chairman of School of Architecture in Baghdad from1986-1991. Dean of the College of Architecture and Art in Petra University, Amman 1993-95, Dean of the College of Engineering and Design, in Bayan University, Abu Dhabi, 1997-99, and Dean of the College of Arts, in Amman University, 2000-2007, in addition to being the Founder of the Architectural Heritage Section at the Baghdad Municipality from1982-86 and a member of the Supreme Committee of Cultural Heritage of Iraq.
- Dr. Ihsan Fethi worked closely with prestigious cultural entities across the Middle East, Europe and the United States; he worked as a consultant to the Getty Conservation Institute (GCI) in Los Angele, since 2005, and as a notable consultant with the World Monument Fund (WMF) in New York, since 2005. Dr. Fethi has also worked in the International Center for the Study of the Preservation and Restoration of Cultural Property (ICCROM) in Rome since 2007. Additionally, he worked as a consultant for the Iraqi Council of Culture, and the Orfali Art Gallery in Amman.
- Driven by years of academic and professional regional and international experience Dr. Fethi produced dozens of publications including an autobiography, books and research papers on diverse modern and historical issues on Architecture, Art, Heritage and Culture.
